Have you ever heard the term 'life coach' and wondered what it meant?

Let's start demystifying it a bit- in short, coaching is an opportunity to team up with someone who is trained in helping you communicate deeply and honestly with yourself in order to become the person you want to be, living the life you want to live.

What does this mean?

It means 'create your life' isn’t just a fancy slogan- it’s actually possible. Rewiring our brains through intentional conditioning along with conscious alignment of internal and external elements (like behaviors, environment, and patterns) makes the idea of building your own life an actual reality, and one that’s completely within your reach.

As humans, our experiences, values, and beliefs shape our world. Limited by those beliefs? Those, too, are changeable.

Consider this:

At this very moment you're experiencing your life up close and personal, inside whatever current thoughts or feelings you’re having.

Perhaps you’re in a spiraling thought pattern, or thinking about a recurring disagreement you're having with someone you love. Maybe you’re focused on a specific aspect of your life- starting a new chapter, leaving a long-term partnership, searching for your calling, or turning that calling into a career. Maybe day-to-day life feels uncomfortable, frustrating, or downright stuck.

Enter a coach.

(Please pardon the high school gym class associations your brain may be making. It’s the name of the profession, and, unfortunately for some of us, it’s too late to change it!)

A coach is your partner on your growth path. Your coach will help you get crystal clear on what that growth path looks like, where you're going, and how to get there. Your coach believes in you completely, even when you struggle to believe in yourself. Your coach knows that you are a complete, whole, and resourceful person, and is dedicated to helping that person live the life they want.

What is keeping you from that life? A good way to think about it is interference- interference with what you’re capable of. Your coach is here to help you notice, identify, and dismantle that interference, replacing it with your own fully realized and unlimited potential.

Neuroscience teaches us that our brains are re-wireable. Neuroplasticity means (among other things) that we have the ability to bring attention to the parts of ourselves that are no longer serving us, and, over time and with focused intention, rewire them into parts that do.

Where do those parts that aren’t serving us come from?

Our experience of the world passes through our own personal lens of a series of self-protective identities, most of whom were created and are operating from before we were 5 years old. The personality itself, however successful it may be, developed as a defense mechanism.

What are we still protecting ourselves from? How can we let these identities go in ways that feel safe, supported, and held, in order to allow ourselves to be who we truly are?

These are lofty missions, and can feel like quests through the psyche, with your own personal boss battles, level ups, and the ever-evolving territory of your own being.
